About 3-0

3-0 Studios came about because I wanted to actually have a real studio name for my artwork, and “Greg Blair Art Productions” was too long, and too generic.

Years ago, not long after I started coloring a lot of my drawings in Photoshop, I started using the name “Greg Blair Art Productions” in the watermark of any image I posted online.  At the time, I thought that was more professional and sophisticated than just putting some text on the bottom of the image that read “Copyright Greg Blair”.  It allowed me to use a (somewhat) fancy watermark so that my images wouldn’t be freely passed around without anyone knowing who did them (although I really doubt anyone cared enough to do it anyway).

In May 2008, while I was substitute teaching (this gave me a lot of time to create a lot of drawings – most of which are still unfinished), I received a phone call that my dad had had a heart attack.  He was fine until a few days later when he had a stroke, and then passed away a week later.  Since then, I haven’t drawn anything (except maybe some doodles), and I’ve colored very little.  I don’t know if it was that event, lack of time and effort, or both, but I haven’t done any serious drawing in 3 years.

However, in summer of 2009, I borrowed a friend’s DSLR camera, and picked up photography (I’m nowhere near a pro, but it’s something I enjoy).  I’ve been very limited on what I’ve been able to do as I have not traveled around as much as I would have liked, and it’s kind of difficult to take amazing shots with a 7 year old point-and-shoot camera.  Although, recently, I finally got my own DSLR, so I am ready to start taking pictures again.

Since I haven’t had the ambition to draw anymore, I figured photography was the way to go to be able to stay in touch with my artistic side, and that is the real reason 3-0 Studios was born.  I wanted a place I where I could start uploading my photos.  I may go back to drawing someday, but for now, I’m going to enjoy getting out and recording the world around me!
